Up, up, and away
They say that nothing green can stay
But summer’s green is autumn’s gold
And spring will see new buds unfold
So it’s with cheer (and not dismay)
I proclaim, Up, Up, Away!
Every journey has a stage of planning
Before you set your sails you set your course
Preparations rigor is demanding
But early effort prevents late remorse
Up, up, and away!
Today is the fourteenth of May
Twenty-eight grads, worthy and proud
Wisdom bestowed, knowledge endowed
Sent off with a prayer and hurray!
As we shout, Up, Up, Away!
Adventurers adopt expeditions
But investors assume initial costs
Your exertion financed our ambitions
So it’s to you our hats we lift and toss
Up, up, and away,
This event marks a brand new day
As dusk intermingles with dawn
A lark greets the sun “bon matin”
Oh, what a magnificent day!
To declare, Up, Up, Away!
Unpainted, formless, our future awaits
But a Spirit unseen plans the unknown
Art is molded from the clay of our fates
The splendid picture He paints is our own.
Up, up, and away
They say that nothing green can stay
But summer’s green is autumn’s gold
And spring will see new buds unfold
So it’s with cheer (and not dismay)
I proclaim, Up, Up, Away!
